Kanchigai — Poppy

An accessory inspired by the poppy (Papaver somniferum), a special plant that drifts through the shadows of world history, providing the raw material for morphine and opium.
It has served both as a life-saving medicine and a soul-ensnaring narcotic.

SanNgai’s accessories are crafted using proprietary techniques to closely replicate the structure of real neon signs found across the Chinese-speaking world. (Patent pending)

To faithfully evoke the iconic look of Asian neon signs — especially those from Hong Kong — it is essential to reproduce the distinctive effect of neon tubes that appear to float, separated from the colored backing panels.
These accessories are designed so that the glowing elements appear suspended inside acrylic, successfully recreating the “distance from the color plate” that defines authentic neon illumination.

Because they are made with acrylic, light entering from the side reflects within, causing the lettering to softly glow — just like the subtle shimmer seen when viewing real neon signs at an angle.

Additionally, a blur effect has been intentionally applied to the background to compensate for the natural absence of depth-of-field blurring in the floating parts. This deliberate design choice brings the accessories even closer to the look of real neon signage.

Try pressing a flashlight or phone light against the side — the letters will softly emerge and glow.
